SC orders sealing of Amrapali premises to recover financial documents

SC orders sealing of Amrapali premises to recover financial documents

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the Superintendents of Police of Noida, Greater Noida, Rajgir and Buxar to seal nine premises of Amrapali Group. The order relates to recovery of company's financial documents from the year 2008-2015 and 2015-2018, which Amrapali failed to deliver yesterday in the court. The SC was critical of the three directors yesterday for not complying with its previous orders to handover the financial documents of the company. They also questioned all the directors of the company as to why a show-cause notice be not filed against all of them for violation of SC's order. Amrapali directors Anil Kumar Sharma, Shiv Priya and Ajay Kumar, through their counsel Alok Kumar Aggarwal submitted an application today in the apex court seeking clarity on yesterday order and showed willingness to handover all the documents by handing over the keys of the offices.

The SC then directs all the SSPs to take the three directos to the seven premises in Noida and Greater Noida and hand over the keys to registrar of the court. The SSPs of Rajgir and Buxar too have been given similar instructions. If the sealing is done today, the directors of Amrapali can be released from police custody, the court said. But if the sealing is not complete today, the directors will be kept in police station but not the lock-up. In its yesterday order, SC also released Rs 20 lakh towards the forensic auditors Pawan Kumar Aggarwal and Ravi Bhatia. The matter will be heard tomorrow.
